Suryodaya Municipality, Nepal I would like to announce the successful completion of the 5-Day Disaster Preparedness Training Program, that was conducted with the theme “Building Resilience Through Action” starting from from Falgun 20, 2081 (March 4, 2024) to Falgun 25, 2081 (March 9, 2024) which was organized under Disaster Management Section of Suryodaya Municipality in collaboration with the NRN16 Foundation of Kathmandu.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in our journey toward creating a safer, disaster-resilient community.
As the mayor of the municipality, my commitments towards ensuring preparedness of the municipality in face of the emergencies head-on. Under the experience and technical expertise of NRN16, the program has helped equip the participants with critical skills to mitigate risks and respond effectively during crisis.
Key Activities & Achievements
- Expert-Led Knowledge Sharing
- Interactive sessions on disaster risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and emergency management brought together municipal police units, elected representatives, and eager participants. Expert discussions from NRN16 facilitated dynamic discussions to align our local strategies with global best practices.
- Simulated Disaster Scenarios
- Through tabletop exercises, participants engaged in real-life disaster simulations, honing their abilities to coordinate, strategize, and execute rapid response plans. These drills have strengthened our collective capacity to act decisively under pressure.
- Hands-On Field Training
- On-site drills in search-and-rescue operations, evacuation protocols, and relief distribution provided practical experience, ensuring our teams are ready to safeguard lives and infrastructure during emergencies.
A United Effort for a Safer Tomorrow
This training underscores the municipality’s commitment towards proactive disaster preparedness. I would like to take my time to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the NRN16 Foundation, our dedicated municipal staff, police personnel, elected representatives, and every participant who contributed massively towards the success of this program. Together, we are not just preparing for emergencies we are building a culture of resilience.

After being equipped with all the necessary skills we need in face of disaster occurrence we move forward to teaching the skills learned from this program on the society and for me as a mayor I assure that Suryodaya Municipality would in the future continue to prioritize:
