Tea testing and Research Center in Kanyam, Suryodaya Municipality

This is a major honour for me to announce that our long awaited project of Nepal’s first and only Tea testing and promotional center is set to open it’s doors on the 27th of Mangshir, a proud moment/milestone for Suryodaya Municipality, its people, the district of Ilam and more importantly the entire nation.

With a joint funding from the Koshi Province, we’ve invested a substantial 23 crores to create world class, fully equipped state of art technology for the facilitation of tea tasting, research and quality testing which are bound to set new standards for tea quality and promoting Ilam as the Tea hub of the nation.

The entirety of Suryodaya Muncipality are honoured to have the Chief Minister of our Province (Koshi Province) Hon. Hikmat Kumar Karki and several other minsters join the inaugration ceremony underscoring the importance of this proud project.

The center would immediately start the tea testing and research where the testing on the tea would be conducted on behalf of municipality while the research activities would be carried out by the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).

Ilam having a rich history of Tea cultivation 160 years of history to be precise, would benefit majorily in terms of trading tea leaves post enaugration of the promotional center helping on addressing the problem that the Ilameli Tea has been facing regarding concern over its promotion and qualilty.

Ilam, our beloved district, has a rich history of tea cultivation spanning over 160 years. However, despite this rich heritage, our Ilameli tea has faced challenges in terms of promotion and quality assurance.

With the inauguration of our new Tea Testing and Promotion Center, we’re poised to address these issues head-on. With the immediate operation of the research and promotion center post inaugration we are faithful that this will serve the promotion and quality control that Ilameli Tea has been yearning since it’s dawn ultimately benefitting our local farmers and also enhancing the reputation of Nepali Tea on the global stage.

However, to truly maximize the potential of our tea industry, we recognize the importance of international partnerships. By forging  strategic partnerships with global players, we can access advanced technologies, expand our market reach, and ensure the sustainability of our tea production. We’re actively seeking investors who share our vision of making Ilam a world-renowned tea destination.

As conclusion, I heartily invite the tea enthusiasts, researchers, tea industry experts and the tourists visiting Queen of Eastern Hills, Kanyam to visit our state of art center to savor the flavors of tea that the Tea-hub of Nepal, Ilam has to offer to the global stage.
