I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Gorkhapatraonline for highlighting the initiatives we’ve been rolling out at Suryodaya Municipality. Being able to share our progress and vision through respected media outlets like Gorkhapatraonline means a lot, and their role in keeping our community informed and involved is invaluable.
The interview focused on the long-term goal of our mission to transform Suryodaya into a model municipality in Nepal, which involves several core areas:
Suryodaya Municipality in Ilam district, known as the largest tea-producing local level in the country, is graced with stunning landscapes and has become a beloved tourist destination. We are dedicated to nurturing these sectors: tourism, agriculture, livestock farming, and education.
Our aim is to transform the city into a nutrition-friendly municipality, building on its previous recognition as a child-friendly municipality.
We have embraced the digital age by making all our services accessible online, showing our dedication to becoming a paperless entity.
Collaborations with international partners have been pivotal to our growth. We are grateful for the support from various foreign donor agencies and partners, including the Mayors’ Academy, the World Bank, and the Swiss government. We are also looking forward to future partnerships with Korea in the tourism sector.
Our recent visit to China opened exciting possibilities in tea commercialization, bamboo cultivation, and fish farming.
We are committed to localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by distributing responsibilities and allocating budgets effectively.
We have made strides in governance practices and have reduced financial irregularities through local capacity development and a strong internal control system.
Our animal husbandry efforts are progressing well, with goals to become FMD-free Local level and achieve high female calf birth rates. Milk production has surged and plans to establish cow zones are underway.
Significant investments are being made in the social sector, particularly in health services. Our initiatives include equipping health offices with online systems and organizing free health camps. We are also enhancing the scientific quality of education by establishing the Agricultural Innovation Center.
Thank you once again for your continued support. We remain dedicated to building a better future for all our residents.
