During the one-week visits across the schools across Suryodaya Municipality, the sight that I observed and saw was highly encouraging.
In almost every school that we went during this one-week span with the main purpose being to distribute mathematics practice books, the attendance of students was more than ninety percent, and I observed that all the students during their study sessions were actively present, engaged, and eager to learn.
This level of attendance on our academic institutions reflects the growing trust of parents and shows the responsibility that our children across the municipality carry with themselves for their better future.
To ensure that the children keep revising what they are being taught the municipality has been regularly conducting monthly municipal-level examinations in four subjects.
This initiative is more than just a revision mock test for the terminal and annual examinations, tests like these provide students with a means to express their academic knowledge, broaden the mental intelligence, further challenge their creative thinking to be better decision makers and reflect as well as correct themselves with these assessments.
During these visits, I took the opportunity to discuss about recent social movements with the students, including the recent Gen Z movement. Along with recognizing positive aspects that the movement brought, we also talked about the possible negative consequences of learning without ethics, moral values, and discipline. The aim was to create awareness about how undisciplined thinking can lead to social unrest if not guided properly.
The positive practices being carried out by our headteachers and teachers are truly commendable. Community schools in our municipality are working with strong commitment and are emerging as some of the best-performing schools among local governments in Koshi Province.
I also observed that institutional schools are playing an important role in maintaining student discipline, which contributes positively to the overall learning environment.
Education is a shared responsibility. With the combined efforts of schools, teachers, students, parents, and the municipality, we are moving steadily toward quality, disciplined, and value-based education in Suryodaya Municipality.
